Waiting for the Pitch

The umpire’s call; “Play Ball.”

The Pitch

The crack of the bat!

The cry; Peanuts- Popcorn-Soda pop

The game has begun

The pitches will fly

The bases will load

The calls will come;

Fair, Foul, Out and Safe

The nines will do their best

To win for their side will be the test

In and out nine times; then to rest

At seven the crowd will stretch

Two innings to kvetch

The tension will mount

The umpire will keep the count

Of the calls the spectators will shout

“Get the Bums out!

The strategies played

The catcher and pitcher will talk

Back and forth they will walk

The umpire will give a sign

It is the bottom of the nine

A strike or a walk, if signals could talk

The last man at bat will he even the score

Not much chance to do more.

“Ya can’t hit, what ya can’t see.”

About whoelmo

cartoonist, reviewer John McDonald- Founding member of the 'Snap Cap Boys', I am also an adventerous bicycle tourist, I visit and review "Bed and Breakfasts". Accompanied by my wife we have toured and visited many locale and enjoyed the pleasant surroundings and hospitality of various "Bed and Breakfast" establishments. The long hours and dusty trails of bicycle travel cultivated many philosophical thoughts and some of these I allow to materialize, which I express in graphic form as "The Blooms"(c). These missives surely add to the entertainment value along with the advice within the "B&B" review. It is my desired wish that you will gain value from this review for your "B&B" experience.
