Every kid dreams of their own, ‘Lemonade Stand’, to make money. A definite capitalist model, trying to prove that they can be independent and resourceful. Usually borne from the idea that a frivolous purchase on their part would put a taxing situation on their meager allowance. And so they will make it on their own. Their own fortune.
Well, ‘Good Luck’, I say.
Out on the hot sidewalk, maybe in the shade of a generous tree, they sit and sweat it out. Patients is the first lesson learned, for unless they have adhered to the doctrine of location, location, location; they must await the arrival of generous parents and adults returning from work to sell their discounted treats.
Usually a pair, brother and sister, a boy and girl team at the cobbled stand, he pouring refreshments and she counting cash. Keeping track on fingers all the while smiling. Another good sign of the business model, pleasantness. Time is running out the crowd is dwindling-out comes the marker; a fire sale on ‘Lemonade’, the serving jug is coated with dew, it is warming up. It is getting late.
The ‘Call’; “Supper”.
The business must close shop.
Only two sips left, they split it.
They will talk about it at supper, before bedtime, all next week, about their adventures in the ‘Business World’.
