Roman Holiday-Simione,Lake Garda

The trip to Sirmione on Lake Garda, Italy’s largest northern glacier fed lake, was picturesque and exciting.  We started off taking the train to Verona and then we boarded a public transit bus to Sirmione.  Approaching the old city centre we passed over a moat bridge and then through the gates to the walled city.  After a sumptuous lunch in a canopied outdoor restaurant we took a leisurely stroll along cobbled streets in the old market areas.  The giant shops were filled with displays of treasures for tourist.  Gelato venders created masterpieces of multilayered sculpted cones pile higher than the sky. Many people dared to manage a tiered tasty treat as they sauntered along. We enjoyed our gelato as we ambled toward the spa complex on the edge of town.  After a look around at the spa it was back to the bus and train and home to prepare for ‘Happy Hour’ and share our adventures with the rest of the group.

“Watch out for a loose cobblestone or you’ll lose it all.”

About whoelmo

cartoonist, reviewer John McDonald- Founding member of the 'Snap Cap Boys', I am also an adventerous bicycle tourist, I visit and review "Bed and Breakfasts". Accompanied by my wife we have toured and visited many locale and enjoyed the pleasant surroundings and hospitality of various "Bed and Breakfast" establishments. The long hours and dusty trails of bicycle travel cultivated many philosophical thoughts and some of these I allow to materialize, which I express in graphic form as "The Blooms"(c). These missives surely add to the entertainment value along with the advice within the "B&B" review. It is my desired wish that you will gain value from this review for your "B&B" experience.
