Roman Holiday-Pisa

“Georgia, I think we’ll hafta PRY a little harder.”

We arrived at Pisa by train at a smaller station closer to the famed leaning tower.  It was a good short walk to the central attraction and a constant buzz of camera shutters going off.  People were in a struggle to compete for the best location and wackiest idea to create a fake position of rescuing the ‘tower’ from falling over.  We made our own attempts at being creative.  From certain vantage points you wonder when the crash will come.

After a good inspection and assurance from locals that the ‘tower’ would remain erect for the rest of the day, we headed off to survey the town.  It is a famed university city and many students can be seen hustling about with bag and book as they gather knowledge.  Many displays of ‘Pinocchio’, the puppet, grace store fronts and most are for sale.  We enjoyed a leisurely lunch in a plaza and went merrily on our way looking for more souvenirs, before ending the tour with a delicious dish of Gelato.

A good long walk through town and alongside the river brought us to a bridge and across that lay the larger train station.  It was on the train and back to Montecatini for ‘Happy Hour’.

About whoelmo

cartoonist, reviewer John McDonald- Founding member of the 'Snap Cap Boys', I am also an adventerous bicycle tourist, I visit and review "Bed and Breakfasts". Accompanied by my wife we have toured and visited many locale and enjoyed the pleasant surroundings and hospitality of various "Bed and Breakfast" establishments. The long hours and dusty trails of bicycle travel cultivated many philosophical thoughts and some of these I allow to materialize, which I express in graphic form as "The Blooms"(c). These missives surely add to the entertainment value along with the advice within the "B&B" review. It is my desired wish that you will gain value from this review for your "B&B" experience.
