The “Christmas” season, the happiest time of the year, is soon upon us. With simple efforts we go to great lengths to make everyone happy and comfortable. We can with an extended effort toward those who are not quite up to it, put a smile on their face which would be so rewarding. Handshaking, well wishing and smiles are all the things that brighten our world at this sleepy time of year.
Everybody has a ‘wish book’, something that will bring a smile to their face, a race to their heart beat or a skip to their step. Just imagine children with their noses hard pressed against a frosty glassed paned window of a quaint toy store. Oh- to realize their ‘wish list’, to view their imagination, what a reward for an adult that would be. The mad frenzy of people scurrying from shop to shop in search of the right gift, the thrill of the treasure hunt. A pause during this stampede to enjoy the street entertainment, to view the decorative lights, to tip the street buskers and enjoy wassailing around the charity pots. Absorbing this true spirit of a “Dickenson” Christmas.
While we take great pride and pleasure as we wrap our chosen gifts we have been so generous about we might take time to consider the less fortunate and be equally generous. Ah, but the delivery, the time of presentation, of hoping our gift will be memorable and enjoyed.
Although we are working hard to keep a healthy society at this time of year it is ever present to use common sense and observe all health regulations while we waltz through this happy season.
And it is with best wishes and a hope that the jolly old elf with his sack full of dreams crawls down every chimney and fills your stockings with goodness.
